Welcome to the BSBP sep. 17 2011 and Birgitta Lejonklou up here in Sweden !
My first creation with my partner Astrid´s lovely lampwork-beads is called "The Emigrants Necklace".
I came across so many wonderful people in the bead world over there in US with ancestors up here in the north of Europe! I think it was about 1000 000 people who left Sweden during those hard times when many starved....My necklace is a whisper to honor those brave women and men who left the only world they knew with great hopes of a better future over there........
Below is a video with a song about this -and the world today- it has been a favorite of mine for a veeeery long time..I hope You can take time to listen!! it is well worth it...
In this Emigrants necklace You can find the gorgeous FOCAL from Astrid (symbol of family) + accent bead to the side. On the opposite side the letter they did write so many times to the people left behind....a vintage button with balance symbol yin - yang, a cross for the strong faith they did bring and a faceted chunky Garnet for the strength../ white lampwork with silver for purity
and some more stones and vintage beads buttons..
My second creation is a play with my muse who is very rebellious and not making the 3 strand bracelet or other things I decided to do....As we need to use the clasp....think it is not in the "rules" HOW :)
here is a pair of earrings with this pretty 3-strand clasp + super pretty seed beads and moon face from the soup and of course a pair of Astrid´s pretty lampwork beads
"Reflections in Moon River Earrings"
This Sunday morning 18 sep. I decided to make a pair of hoops with those pretty blueberry quartz cubes I got in my soup ....this is how they turned out...
Yea right...!! the cubes had to small holes for my heated copper wire I was wrapping with so I had to change the idea....again...I dont know if I will keep those or find a better use for the left over glorious lampwork bead from my soup ....there is a Swarovski sparkling in the flower...
And now it is time yo hop around and see all the fantastic creations from all over the WORLD!!!!!!!
Thank You for visiting - And I would love if You leave a note about ancestors or just say Hi !!

Birgitta I'm speechless, such a beautiful piece. I'm honored that my beads were part of it and as my mother was an immigrant it has such special meaning for me. Thank you for being my partner!

SvaraRaderabreathtaking and evoking images of the past. beautiful!
SvaraRaderaI am SO sorry for being late -- today our internet provider decided to crash. My stress level is through the roof, to say the least! They're still working on it, but it's like dial-up.
SvaraRaderaI'm so so in love with the necklace -- would wear it so often. Just -- so in love. Sigh.
I hope you'll participate again!
Love, Lori

hello gorgeous xxx
Great work! Have a nice day! Yours Doris
SvaraRaderaFantastiska kreationer Birgitta!
SvaraRaderaI love everything about your necklace..the story behind it..the strength of the components..the gorgeous colours and the sentiment of the letter and video.
SvaraRaderaYour photography is great too...love the composition and framing..the fact that you can click to see close ups...how do you do that!! Love it all.
Jenni
I am so impressed with all of your creations with your soup - you have a real talent. This has got to be one of my favourite reveals I've seen so far!
SvaraRaderaThat is a really beautiful necklace, and I love the thought process behind it! Wonderful!
SvaraRaderaAll of the details in your pieces are gorgeous!
SvaraRaderaSnyggt halsband!
SvaraRaderaBeautiful, I love those fibers.
SvaraRaderaBirgitta, the necklace and earrings are gorgeous and I love the meaning of the necklace.
SvaraRaderaTherese
so beautifull, all of your pieces are lovely. I really liked the tought you put into this & your story you shared. I did try to watch the video but there isn't any sound.
SvaraRaderaLove this post. Your creation is awesome and I love the tatted bodice as well. Your story gives courage.
SvaraRaderaBe Blessed to be a blessing
Beautiful work + lovely thoughts = extraordinary feast for the eyes.
SvaraRaderaWhat a wonderful story for your necklace. It reminds me that my ancestors came to wisconsin, usa in the 1880's from Poland. My great-grandfather came here and left his wife and younger children. settled a homestead, and sent for the rest of his family 5 years later. I have a copy of the boat roster when they landed. I now have the idea of using parts of the roster and "resining" to make a focal piece. I think my parents would like that.
SvaraRaderaI love the necklace! You had great ingredients to start with! The colors and textures are great!
SvaraRaderaBeautiful jewelry. I love the necklace with it's old world feel and wire wrapped note. Very cool.
SvaraRaderaI love the use of the netted fiber on the earrings!
That is simply fantastic!! I can not think of a single tiny element that I don't absolutely adore!! Fantastic job!!
SvaraRaderaJust lovely!
SvaraRaderaI love a piece of jewellery with a story behind it!
SvaraRaderaYou really touched an emotional note with me. I come from a very large family that is now dealing with a mother and father who have Alzheimers. My 13 year old just did a project for school on our ancestry. Its all very emotional for me. My husbands family lost many members in the holocaust. My ancestors were forced out of Russia during the pograms. There are so many pieces of our lives that will be lost. Thanks for putting your art out there and tying it to something with great meaning.
SvaraRaderaGorgeous work! I love the asymmetry is everything. Fantastic!
SvaraRaderaAbsolutely beautiful jewelry. Your "emigrant" piece is especially touching (and lovely!)
SvaraRaderaI love your necklace and the story behind it. Very vintage and loving. And the last pair of earrings are glorious. I really like your wire with the ribbon, beads, etc. They turned our wonderful.
SvaraRaderaLoved the nice pieces.
SvaraRaderaThese are beautiful pieces. I love your style!
SvaraRaderaWhat a beautiful tribute! I love the handwritten note and the beautiful colors.
SvaraRaderaI am a third generation American on my father's side, my great grandfather came from Germany before World War II, he didn't like what was happening and got a job playing trumpet on an ocean liner, then as soon as the ship pulled into NYC, he quit his job and went right to Ellis Island.
Your necklace made me think of him and how so many people from Europe took big risks and chances to find a new life in America and how brave they had to be.
Beautiful work!
I love EVERYTHING about this piece, the history, the vintage components and the romance, LOVE IT!
SvaraRaderaNice! The letter is a very cool addition to your necklace!
SvaraRaderaLovely wistful piece, Birgitta, a little sad but SO beautiful. Lots to think about here! You work so well with such different elements and know just where they will work best!
SvaraRaderaThis necklace is stunning and drop dead gorgeous Bridgette! I loooove this!
SvaraRaderaWhat a beautiful necklace! And cute earrings too.
SvaraRaderaAll of your pieces are over the top beautiful. Love the antique old world feel to them. and I love the pieces you sent your partner. So earthy.
SvaraRaderaBeautiful creations, and a beautiful thought behind them.
SvaraRaderaI love how your main piece isn't just a beautiful necklace but also tells a story.
SvaraRaderaAnd both pairs of earrings are quite lovely too :)
Very beautiful pieces. The necklace is great.

SvaraRaderaI love the Beautiful Old World Feel to tall of these creations. I love that you have a story and the post wrapped lovingly into the necklace, treasured for all time close to her heart. Lovely earrings, love the fiber with them.
SvaraRaderaSo beautiful and artistic, I love your interpretation!
SvaraRaderaThank you for the symbolism. It is a lovely piece, and all the more interesting for knowing why you chose what you did. I like a well thought out meaningful piece!
SvaraRaderaSuch stunning pieces !! lovely!! I would love to touch each one!! the name of the necklace is so perfect!! my grandmother came from Sweden all alone on a boat when she was 18 did not know any English. She went thru Ellis Island and went to nursing school and became the head of Nurses at a big New York hospital!! Someday i will get to visit your beautiful country!! Your necklace really speaks to me!!
SvaraRaderaOh my how gorgeous! The colors are so beautiful - and I absolutely love that you included a letter in your piece - a true story piece!
SvaraRaderaSuch unique work! I love that you wired a note into the ribbon- such a special detail! Lovely!
SvaraRaderaSeeing your necklace left me in tears. It is very beautiful, and the story struck such a chord in me. The emotion really came through visually. Thank you
SvaraRaderaVery beautiful necklace; I love blue with that deep bronzy metal. But your earrings are my favorites! magnificent!
SvaraRaderaI love that you tucked the little note into the fabric on the side... it reminded me of how the children had name tags and notes pinned to them. Beautiful pieces.
SvaraRaderayour neclace is amazing and so meaningful. beautiful, beautiful piece!
SvaraRaderaVery eclectic mix of components in a great design.
SvaraRaderaVery creative and inspiring pieces! My ancestors were mostly German anabaptists who left due to the religious persecution they experienced. Several hundred years later, my family still remains in the Mennonite faith. I've enjoyed my visit here to your blog!
SvaraRaderaI'm in absolute love with your necklace. It's got to be one of my favorite pieces in the whole hop so far. From your color palette to your use of materials, it's a really fantastic piece. You should be proud!
